When I lived in California, living spaces were small, so I adapted.
Hard to tell from this image, but this loft was designed so a 5'8" person could stand fully without hitting their head underneith. It also had a TV mount and a full blown staircase (for me, but also for my cats!).
The original design was made in AutoCAD but significant alterations were made to the final product. As I looked at what materials were available, and how to make certain wood joins, I made a lot of practical changes. The overall dimensions still remained true since that's primarily what affected usability.
The Loft 1.0 was one I made in college. It was a tad bit shorter (since my room had a ceiling fan!) and it was made with a lot less experience. It also never had a guard bar so rolling off was always possible.
