I'm interested in a great many things. There's so many things to learn, and I always approach them like a sponge.
I'm someone who's very patient with others but not with myself. I have people-pleasing tendencies that with time, have reshaped into a deep value in fairness to all (including myself).
As someone who's naturally inclined to melancholy, I consciously aim to create levity with others and find joy wherever possible.
I'm a relatively introverted person who can chameleon as an outgoing one when prompted to do so.
My values include a great many things: things that should be universal, like respect, responsibility, kindness, and a love of learning, etc. However, I place the 3 following values above all others as my way of approaching the world more equitably (with a deeper explaination below the 3).
I find joy in moments like when someone fills in a newcomer to a conversation with context, so they are included.
It bothers me immensely when someone talks over someone who is naturally quiet and reserved.
I find joy when people show consideration for the space they share with others: whether that be physically, emotionally, in conversations, or how they treat public areas.
I grealty dislike unawareness of one's own responses and actions around others.
It brings me joy when people consistently show kindness in a push and pull of awareness, inclusion, and imperfection.
It bothers me immensely when someone expects the same behavior in every context regardless of that moment's ques.
I gave these simple examples of "likes versus dislikes" to not only give concrete examples of my values in action, but to show the mental underpinning of how I truncate events happening in front of me.
Awareness extends to who we are in every context. It means I not only want people to strive to learn but most importantly, use that information communally. When combined with inclusion and balance however, it also means we have to account for forgetfulness, neurodivergence, and imperfection. In a way, one of my core values is Kindness, however I place Kindness below these because sometimes its not fair to the individual to be kind to those that show disregard for them back. Still, I of course approach all with a kindness first approach.
Balance and inclusion also hints towards my view about communication. We all need to communicate better (e.g. someone's standing in my way? Maybe I need to say "excuse me!" or else I can't expect them to just move), but we also need to try to perceive better so that other people aren't constantly having to communicate every minor need and que. It's a balance, and we are all included in it.
During the summer:
Loyola Beach, Biking, Pickleball, spending time with friends
Jigsaw puzzles
Chess, board games (Deckbuilders are my current favorites!)
Reading, audiobooks
Social videogames with friends (Meccha Chameleon is the current favorite).
Snowboarding
Some minor coding projects.
Lawncare and bricklaying
Food prep supervisor (I made all the "grab-n-go" type sandwiches and salads)
Bus Driver (like the big city busses)
I grew up in a blended military family. My mother was a Filipino immigrant living in the UK and my father was an Irish-American who was deployed to England when they met. I was born in the United Kingdom as an "American born abroad" and I've moved very often.
I found it hard to fully explain how many places I've lived, so I made a short animation to explain.
